This is the new website for Yet Another Society. YAS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation for the advancement of collaborative efforts in computer and information sciences.

March 18, 2003 Call for Venue "YAPC::Europe::2004 Conference"
While the Paris mongers are organizing the YAPC::Europe::2003 conference with enthusiasm, the "YAPC::Europe Committee" is already looking for candidates for the YAPC::Europe conference in 2004.

Any dedicated crew interested in organizing the YAPC::Europe conference in 2004 should send an informal application, stating their interest, to:

So far the Belfast group has expressed an interest for YAPC::Europe::2004.

March 06, 2003 YAPC::Israel::2003 Moved / Presentation list is online
Due to technical reasons the Conference has to be moved to another location and date. The new location is in Haifa University the date is 11th of May 2003, one day earlier than planned.

February 20, 2003 YAPC::NA::2003 Registration Open
I am pleased to announce that this years YAPC::NA being held in Boca Raton, Florida, USA has begun registration. You can register online at http://yapc.org/America/register.shtml. The CFP is online and abstracts can be submitted until March 15! Registration will last until June 9. As usual, space is limited so register early if you can.

January 09, 2003 YAPC::NA::2003 Call For Proposals

December 01, 2002 YAPC::Israel::2003 Call For Proposals
The first YAPC::Israel in 2003 "Perl (is) in Business" will be a one day event. It will be held on May 12, 2003 (Monday) in the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot. Registration is open, and is for a cost of 250 NIS (~$48USD). Space is limited to 250 people, so register early!

A Call for Proposals is also in effect until January 4, 2003. All current information is available on the YAPC::Israel::2003 website, and updates will be posted here.

November 11, 2002 YAPC::Asia::Taiwan, Pre-Announcement
Taiwan has a large community of of Perl, PHP and Python users; but unlike Java or .Net, there is little corporate support of the community. The community's advocacy efforts have to play a leading role in introducing these "scripting languages" to the programming public. Unfortunately, there haven't yet been any major conventions or parties between these communities. Now there is!

September 21, 2002 Call for 2003 Venues!
If you are interested in hosting YAPC::America::North in 2003, get your proposals in! Don't forget to check the venue requirements, the YAPC::Venue module on CPAN, and talk to the organizers of YAPCs past. The Perl Foundation aims to announce the venue in November 2002.
